The Redworth Hall Hotel – 4 Star – Newton Aycliffe The 4 star Georgian Redworth Hall Hotel, standing in 25 acres of peaceful woodland, combines traditional elegance with contemporary style. The grand old manor house dating back to 1744 has many original features including the magnificent Great Hall and ornate staircase. All 143 bedrooms have been individually designed with tastefully co-ordinated fabrics and furniture. All rooms are equipped with all the extras you need to make you feel at home, including tea/coffee facilities and hairdryer. The hotel has a bar, 2 restaurants and lavishly decorated lounges. Day One: After a taxi pick up from home, you board our luxury coach and make your way, via the motorway network, northwards to Newton Aycliffe, your base for the next four nights. Day Two to Day Four: With three included excursions in this stunning region, you will see picturesque coastline, historic castles and magnificent gardens. Day Five: After breakfast, you make your way southwards, arriving back on the Island early evening.
Included Excursions: A day tour to the city of Durham for sightseeing and shopping with an included river cruise with lunch on-board. The one and a half hour cruise with commentary takes in many of the city’s sights from the unique perspective of the River Wear. The boat casts off from the jetty beneath the Prince Bishop’s shopping centre and takes a course upstream. After taking in views of the bandstand, racecourse and prison we turn and head downstream where a buffet lunch is served beneath the gaze of Durham Cathedral. A full day excursion visiting Hadrian’s Wall and The Chesters Roman Fort, which is near Chollerford, perhaps the best preserved Roman cavalry fort in Britain. You then continue to the market town of Hexham with its Abbey. Our journey also takes us across the dramatic North Pennines passing the spectacular High Force waterfall. An excursion to Beamish Open Air Museum. Set in a picturesque valley, Beamish vividly recreates life in the North of England in the early parts of both the 19th and 20th centuries. Costumed staff welcome visitors to The Town, the “drift” mine and Colliery Village, Home Farm, Pockerley Manor and The 1825 Railway, Pockerley Waggonway with its replica “Locomotion No 1” and “The Steam Elephant”. Beamish has won many visitor attraction awards.

The McDonald Blossoms Hotel Chester – 4 Star This charming 4 star hotel is located in a quiet street within Chester’s historic city centre, within easy reach of the Rows and the cathedral. Each of the 63 bedrooms is beautifully decorated with many original features and contains TV, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. The charming streetfacing restaurant has a modern contemporary feel, and there is a small bar and lounge in which to relax. The hotel has a lift to all floors.
Day One: After a taxi pick up from home, you join our luxury touring coach and head northwards, via the motorway network, towards Chester, with comfort stops en route. We arrive at the hotel late afternoon. Day Two to Day Four: At leisure in Chester. With two included excursions. The city of Chester is awash with history and heritage. Famous for its unforgettable half timbered buildings, Chester has a gentle medieval air. From the cobbled paths to the cathedral spire, Chester offers buildings of every era, each carefully restored to retain the old world backdrop to the modern day bustle of vibrant city life. Chester is home to the unique 13th Century ‘Rows’, half-timbered galleried shops, the largest Roman amphitheatre in Britain and a glorious cathedral.. Day Five: After breakfast, you head southwards via the motorway network for the return journey to the Island, arriving early evening.
Included Excursions: A day to Tatton Park which has much to offer. The two historic houses, the Mansion and Tudor Old Hall, are set in 1000 acres of beautiful parkland with lakes, tree-lined avenues and herds of red and fallow deer. Award-winning gardens, a working farm and speciality shops complete the picture. A visit to Arley Hall and Gardens, one of Cheshire’s most charming country houses, the Hall and Chapel were built between 1832 and 1845 and are a prized example of the Victorian Jacobean style. The gardens have been voted amongst the top 50 in Europe and in the top 10 in Britain. The Gardens are a horticulturist’s paradise and are celebrated for the oldest and finest double herbaceous borders in the country.

The Merrion Hotel – 3 Star The Merrion Hotel is located in a prime position on the promenade of Llandudno, nestled between the twin headlands of the Little and Great Ormes. All rooms are en-suite with TV, direct dial telephone and complimentary tea/coffee making facilities. Other hotel facilities include lift, bar, lounge and restaurant.
Day One: After a taxi pick up from home, you join our luxury touring coach and head northwards, via the motorway network, towards North Wales, with comfort stops made en route. We arrive in Llandudno late afternoon. Day Two to Day Four: At leisure in Llandudno. With two included excursions. The resort of Llandudno is a bustling holiday centre, well served with shops and restaurants. Nearby you have the Great Orme, which you can ascend by cable car or tram. From the top you have magnificent views of the town and the Irish Sea. Day Five: After breakfast, you head southwards, via the motorway network for the return journey back to the Island, arriving early evening.
Included Excursions: A grand circular tour of the Snowdonia National Park, including a train ride on the new Welsh Highland Railway line from Caernarfon to Portmadog (Subject to completion, otherwise a similar journey on the same line will be offered ). Here you rejoin your coach for the journey to Italianate village of Portmeirion. You then return to Llandudno, via Blaenau Ffestiniog and Betws-y-Coed. A day excursion to the Isle of Anglesey. First visiting Beaumaris, a well known historic town on the Menai Strait with its medieval castle dating back to the reign of Edward I and its Victorian pier, gaol & courthouse. Then onto Plas Newydd Country House and Gardens, Home of the Marquess of Anglesey. With spectacular views of Snowdonia set amidst breathtakingly beautiful scenery on the Menai Strait, this elegant house was redesigned by James Wyatt in the 18th century. The 1930’s restyled interior is famous for its Rex Whistler association, containing his largest painting and exhibition. A military museum contains relics of the 1st Marquess of Anglesey, who commanded the cavalry at the Battle of Waterloo.
