Surrounded by beautiful countryside, Royal Tunbridge Wells offers plenty of variety for the visitor. The most famous area being The Pantiles, originally a Georgian colonnaded walkway, it is now home to a fascinating variety of small specialist shops, antique shops, open-air cafes, restaurants and bars. In the afternoon we will visit Chartwell, the former home of Sir Winston Churchill. With its unrivalled collection of Churchill paintings, photographs and memorabilia. The rooms and gardens remain much as they were when he lived here. The beautiful rose and water gardens and terraced hillside gardens with stunning views over the Weald are a legacy of Churchill’s interest in landscape and nature. Ostend has a very individual charm with characteristic sea front, marinas, parks, and bustling markets. There are also fish and seafood stalls along the pier, a miniature railway and horse drawn carriage rides through the city. There is a superb shopping centre with many shops along the side streets. A great day out! A stop will be made for passengers to purchase tobacco products.

Burford and Westonbirt Arboretum

A delightful autumn tour. First of all, we will travel to the delightful Cotswold town of Burford. Its High Street, with golden stone buildings, slopes from the high Wolds where you have beautiful views over the open countryside down to the willow fringed River Windrush. A fine three arched medieval bridge crosses the river at the foot of the hill. In the afternoon, we visit the National Arboretum at Westonbirt. Take a relaxing stroll through this unspoilt and tranquil delight. Westonbirt is one of the most photographed places in the country from October to November, mainly due to the National Japanese Maple Collection and the array of colourful autumn trees.

Have you visited London Zoo lately? This brilliant zoo always has something new for the visitor. All the favourites are here; elephants, tigers, giraffe, penguins, gorillas etc. A new children’s zoo which opened in 2009 and also the recently opened Meet the Monkeys walk-through have proved very popular. Also visit the Aquarium, Butterfly Paradise and the Blackburn Pavilion which is a tropical bird walk-through. A great day out.
