Have you visited London Zoo lately? This brilliant zoo always has something new for the visitor. All the favourites are here; elephants, tigers, giraffe, penguins, gorillas etc. A new children’s zoo which opened in 2009 and the recently opened Meet the Monkeys walk-through have proved very popular. Also visit the Aquarium, Butterfly Paradise and the Blackburn Pavilion which is a tropical bird walk-through. A great day out.

Chichester and Weald and Downland Museum

A visit to the historic city of Chichester with its cathedral and Tudor Market Cross which dominates the centre of the city’s four main Georgian shopping streets. In the afternoon we take the short journey to the Weald & Downland Museum. Entering through Longport Farmhouse, you will visit the barn from Hambrook which has an introductory exhibition, then outside where the full beauty of Singleton Valley is revealed. Visit the Toll cottages and the Market Place, based on the market square at Alfriston. Surrounding the square are medieval shops from Horsham. Also plumbers, joiners and carpenters workshops are complete with tools and equipment. A delightful journey back in time.

Held at the NEC, Birmingham, this show has earned the reputation over the past five years as the largest, most inspiring quilting event in Europe. Featuring galleries from leading artist and groups and workshops with experts on had to share their skills with you. Over 200 trade stands with those vital supplies for your patchwork and quilting will also be at the show.

Marwell Zoo

Come and see some of the most beautiful and interesting animals in the world. Marwell has 200 different species, including many favourites such as tigers, rhino, giraffes, penguins, zebra, meerkats and hippo. Didcot Railway Centre

Home of the Great Western Society, Didcot is a great day out for the rail enthusiast. Original steam trains take you on a ride down the line between the two stations passing the engine shed and locomotive works on the way. Didcot is believed to house the largest collection of locomotives, from any one company, anywhere in the world together with over 40 coaches. With many relics from the past on show; ticket machines, nameplates, posters, photographs, tickets and books, this is a day not to be missed.
