Jane Austen Country
Tuesday 4th October
Follow in the footsteps of this world famous novelist and discover the locations and fine countryside that inspired her writing. Visit her home and museum at Chawton and explore the picturesque byways of Hampshire that inspired her. We halt for coffee at Winchester then tour through the Hampshire hills to charming New Alresford for a lunch break. During the afternoon we visit Jane Austen’s House.

Leeds Castle - Autumn Glory Flower Festival

Described as ‘the loveliest castle in the world’, Leeds Castle is set majestically on two islands in the centre of a lake. Ostend via Eurotunnel

Ostend has a very individual charm with characteristic sea front, marinas, parks, and bustling markets. There are also fish and seafood stalls along the pier, a miniature railway and horse drawn carriage rides through the city. There is a superb shopping centre with many shops along the side streets. Bath and the stunning countryside surrounding it, is one of England’s most beautiful places to visit. It is a unique city with its hot springs, Roman Baths, splendid Abbey and Georgian stone crescents that have attracted visitors for centuries. A wide variety of shops, including many independent ones, individual cafes and restaurants as well as interesting museums make for a wonderful day out in this historic city.

Burford and Westonbirt Arboretum
Thursday 20th October
A delightful autumn tour. We will travel to the charming Cotswold town of Burford. Its High Street, with golden stone buildings, slopes from the high Wolds where you have beautiful views over the open countryside down to the willow fringed River Windrush. A fine three arched medieval bridge crosses the river at the foot of the hill. In the afternoon, we visit the National Arboretum at Westonbirt. Take a relaxing stroll through this unspoilt and tranquil delight. Westonbirt is one of the most photographed places in the country from October to November, mainly due to the National Japanese Maple Collection and the array of colourful autumn trees.

Travelling through the delightful New Forest, with its wandering ponies, we pass through the picturesque villages of Lyndhurst, Brockenhurst and Beaulieu with a stop at Burley. We then travel on to Poole in Dorset with time for you to visit the bustling quayside with its shops, bars and restaurants or watch the activity in the stunning harbour.
