Jane Austen Country

Tuesday 4th October

Follow in the footsteps of this world famous novelist and discover the locations and fine countryside that inspired her writing. Visit her home and museum at Chawton and explore the picturesque byways of Hampshire that inspired her. We halt for coffee at Winchester then tour through the Hampshire hills to charming New Alresford for a lunch break. During the afternoon we visit Jane Austen’s House.

Leeds Castle - Autumn Glory Flower Festival

Sunday 9th October

Described as ‘the loveliest castle in the world’, Leeds Castle is set majestically on two islands in the centre of a lake. The Castle is a treasure house of fine furnishings and tapestries, 500 acres of parkland, gardens and attractions to explore, including the maze and grotto, aviary and vineyard. The Autumn Glory Flower Festival will be held at the Castle over this weekend for additional colour and attraction.

Tuesday 11th October

Oxford is an ancient university city, both timeless and modern. Steeped in history and charm, this wonderful city has something for everyone from austere University colleges and excellent museums to quiet parks, a superb bustling shopping centre and fashionable restaurants.

Royal town of Windsor

Thursday 13th October

Visit the Royal town of Windsor, steeped in history. You will have time to visit Windsor Castle, the largest and oldest occupied castle in the world and the home of Her Majesty The Queen. Visitors can tour the castle precincts, State apartments, The Drawings Gallery and St. George’s Chapel. Why not visit the world famous Eton College, explore the unique shops or take a riverside stroll.

Ostend via Eurotunnel

Saturday 15th October

Ostend has a very individual charm with characteristic sea front, marinas, parks, and bustling markets. There are also fish and seafood stalls along the pier, a miniature railway and horse drawn carriage rides through the city. There is a superb shopping centre with many shops along the side streets. A great day out! A stop will be made for passengers to purchase tobacco products.

Historic Bath

Tuesday 18th October

Bath and the stunning countryside surrounding it, is one of England’s most beautiful places to visit. It is a unique city with its hot springs, Roman Baths, splendid Abbey and Georgian stone crescents that have attracted visitors for centuries. A wide variety of shops, including many independent ones, individual cafes and restaurants as well as interesting museums make for a wonderful day out in this historic city.

Burford and Westonbirt Arboretum

Thursday 20th October

A delightful autumn tour. We will travel to the charming Cotswold town of Burford. Its High Street, with golden stone buildings, slopes from the high Wolds where you have beautiful views over the open countryside down to the willow fringed River Windrush. A fine three arched medieval bridge crosses the river at the foot of the hill. In the afternoon, we visit the National Arboretum at Westonbirt. Take a relaxing stroll through this unspoilt and tranquil delight. Westonbirt is one of the most photographed places in the country from October to November, mainly due to the National Japanese Maple Collection and the array of colourful autumn trees.

New Forest and Poole

Tuesday 25th October

Travelling through the delightful New Forest, with its wandering ponies, we pass through the picturesque villages of Lyndhurst, Brockenhurst and Beaulieu with a stop at Burley. We then travel on to Poole in Dorset with time for you to visit the bustling quayside with its shops, bars and restaurants or watch the activity in the stunning harbour. There is also a splendid shopping centre.

London Museums or Shopping

Saturday 29th October

A day visit to our capital city. We will drop you near to the Science, Victoria & Albert and Natural History Museums, giving you an opportunity to enjoy these fascinating venues. (All with free admission). If you prefer to spend a day shopping, Kensington is close by or just hop on the underground to go further afield.
